Why “Q-Factor” Matters for RF Security Labels
The “quality factor” (Q-factor) describes how efficiently an RF label stores and releases energy — in other words, how clearly and consistently it responds to an RF gate’s signal. Think of it like the resonance of a bell: a high-quality bell rings longer and more clearly; a high Q-factor RF label gives a stronger, more reliable signal to the detector.
- Better detection: higher Q labels are more consistently picked up by exit gates.
- Fewer false alarms: clearer signal helps reduce missed detections or unnecessary alerts.
- More efficient deactivation: high Q often deactivates cleaner at checkout.
In practice, choosing labels with the right Q-factor helps ensure RF security systems perform reliably in real retail conditions — especially for high-theft or high-value items.
